FAQs

“I’ve never done this before, are you going to know how to pose us or should we expect to know what to do?!

Yes! I’m totally going to pose you, prompt you, and coach you through your entire session. I keep an eye out for double chins, stains, or drool on clothing, stray hairs, awkward poses or interaction, and make sure that your photos look comfortable and not awkward.

I have no idea how to style my family or prepare for my shoot. Can you help me?

Absolutely. I will help you to design a color palette that looks flattering on everyone. Most of the time this just involves exchanging some clothing ideas via text message and brainstorming how we can make your session look stylized and cohesive.

What do I need to know before my shoot?

While I’d love to take those Pinterest images you’ve chosen and create an exact replica of them during your shoot there are a few things that you need to know - especially if you have kids! First, the photographers who captured those images on Pinterest probably took advantage of the situation they had in front of them and if the lighting and conditions were right for what they were creating, they made it happen! However, lighting is forever changing and sometimes kids don’t exactly want to do everything we hope they will. I pride myself in making your session unique to you and I watch for opportunities to capture your kids personalities however they choose to present them to me. I make those decisions on the spot and I try and stay in the present and take pride in what we can create right then and there! Secondly, and this one is for the parents, please help to ensure a light and fun photoshoot by allowing your kids to get away with a little more than usual. Try not to correct them and let me take care of setting up the perfect shot. Sometimes kids can get upset if they feel forced to pose and sit still and frankly once the kids decide the session is over - its over. I’d suggest bringing a bit of bribery to your session or promise ice cream afterward so that they have something to look forward to! Let’s keep it fun.

Do you attend wedding rehearsal dinners?

Sometimes! If I am invited. However, I leave the camera behind. If you DO want coverage of your rehearsal dinner, please see my Investment page for event pricing.

I WILL say that I do love attending these dinners because it gives your families and bridal party a chance to get to know me. Imagine how much easier it is to get genuine photographs when I know your family & friends by name and can recognize their faces!

Can we bring our dog to our session?

Yes! In fact, please do! Just know that sometimes this requires a little more effort for everyone and its even helpful to bring a family member or friend to help hold the leash while we get images that don’t involve your pup. If you decide to bring your dog, bring treats and a squeaky toy! This ensures I can get them to look at my camera for those picture-perfect moments. If your dog tends to not do well in public or around other dogs (if we go to a public area sometimes there are other pets walking around) please use your discretion. No one knows your pets like you do!

Do you offer discounts?

Honestly, not often. That being said, I do the occasional model call which involves a free session for those chosen for the shoot. Typically these are centered around a very specific idea regarding a particular type of session that I’m wanting to market more toward. The way my model calls work is: the session is totally complimentary and you can select a small handful of images resized for social media use. There is a discounted rate involved if you want to purchase digital files sized for printing purposes. As always, once digital files are purchased you would receive printing rights and an online gallery for viewing/downloading.

For weddings: There is a 10% Discount for Sunday Weddings or Events held Monday - Friday.
