Golden Hour On The Farm

A Photography Workshop just for you.

November 1, 2025

The workshop will take place in Grottoes, VA. To respect the privacy of the property owners, the exact location details will be provided upon registration.

Finding the Extraordinary in the Ordinary

If you’re here, I know you’re ready to dive in deep—you’re not someone who simply observes, but someone willing to get your hands dirty, do the hard work, and chase growth. This workshop is designed to equip you with more than just the basics; it’s about learning the everyday skills you need to document life in a meaningful way. Photography is one of the most powerful storytellers we have, preserving the moments that become our most cherished heirlooms. In a digital world where sharing online is second nature, professional photos matter, but the images we create for ourselves hold a different kind of truth. They’re raw, they’re real, and they capture something no one else can:

Us.

You Will Learn…

How to Shoot in Manual:

Understanding your equipment and exposure.

Throughout the workshop, I’ll walk you step-by-step through a curriculum designed to help you confidently shoot in manual mode. We’ll cover everything from understanding your DSLR and lenses to troubleshooting common issues, so you can take control of your camera instead of letting it control you. There will be plenty of time for Q&A, along with hands-on training, so you can practice what you’re learning and get personalized guidance along the way.

Guided Coaching and Hands On Training

During the GOLDEN Hour

Our guided coaching and practice will be broken down into three engaging segments. We’ll start with landscape and still life foundations, giving you the chance to slow down and really understand composition, lighting, and camera settings. Next, we’ll dive into portraiture and the art of human connection; how to direct, pose, and capture authentic emotion. Finally, we’ll wrap up with a stylized family photoshoot featuring a model family, where you’ll put everything into practice in a real-world setting with my guidance by your side.

Guided Photo Editing Workshop

via Zoom (Online)

We’ll also connect for a guided Zoom meeting focused on photo editing and composition feedback. During this session, I’ll walk you through how to use Lightroom to bring out the very best in your images and refine your personal editing style. We’ll also explore techniques for producing striking black and white imagery that elevates your photos and adds timeless impact.

The online components of the workshop, including editing tutorials and group feedback sessions, will be scheduled based on what works best for the group to ensure maximum participation and engagement. This way, everyone has the opportunity to get the most out of the virtual experience. Don’t worry - Everyone will be given a chance to attend an online editing workshop afterward, no matter the date.

Who Is This For?

This workshop is for anyone who loves photography and wants to grow. Whether you’re a beginner just picking up your camera, a hobbyist looking to sharpen your skills, a caregiver or parent hoping to capture family moments, or a new family/lifestyle photographer, this workshop is sure to help.

What do I need to bring?

Just bring yourself and your camera! All supplies and materials outside of this are provided, so you can fully focus on learning and creating. From worksheets and guides to notebooks and pens and everything needed for hands-on practice, you’ll have the tools to stay engaged and confident every step of the way.

What Will I Receive?

By the end of the workshop, participants will walk away with a diverse portfolio that spans landscape and macro photography, engaging portraiture, and lifestyle family photography. You’ll receive comprehensive handouts to deepen your understanding of camera settings and lighting. The experience includes hands-on training and guided shooting, plus an online editing tutorial with group feedback and critiques to refine your work. This will be recorded so that participants can revisit the tutorial at any time. You’ll also gain access to a VIP online forum where you can share your images, connect with fellow participants, and continue learning. This community will remain open indefinitely.

There won’t be a photographer there …

The first time you bring a newborn home from the hospital.

During your child’s first steps or the wobbly stage of learning to walk.

At family dinners filled with laughter, inside jokes, and storytelling.

While baking or cooking together in the kitchen, flour everywhere.

During quiet bedtime routines — reading books, snuggles, or prayers.

As a couple dances in the living room for no reason at all.

While kids play in the backyard, mud on their clothes, hair wild.

During morning chaos — brushing teeth, packing lunches, missing shoes.

When moving into a new home and unpacking the first box.

While grandparents interact with their grandkids in simple, everyday ways.

During emotional goodbyes at the airport or joyful greetings at arrivals.

For long car rides — sleepy heads against windows, road trip snacks.

During rainy-day activities — board games, blanket forts, puddle jumping.

At late-night conversations on the porch or around a fire.

While working on hobbies together — gardening, painting, fixing things.

But You’ll Be There.

That’s where this workshop comes in.

Golden Hour on the Farm will teach you how to capture those raw, ordinary-yet-extraordinary moments yourself, giving you the tools to preserve the memories no one else is there to document.

Hello! I’m Casey, owner of Casey Erin Photography. I photographed my very first clients back in 2009, and since then I’ve had the joy of capturing over 100 weddings and more than a thousand photo sessions. My work has even been featured in various blogs and sites, most notably The Knot magazine. Beyond the camera, I love teaching. I get so much joy out of mentoring other photographers and helping them feel more confident and creative. When I’m not behind the lens or editing away in Lightroom and Photoshop, you’ll usually find me spending time with my husband and chasing after our two-year-old daughter, Audrey. They’re my biggest inspiration and my favorite reminders to slow down and savor the little moments, which is really what photography is all about.

My approach to photography has always been centered around connection, relationship, and creativity. I have a deep love for candid and wild lifestyle sessions, usually with families with young children. My goal ever since the very beginning was to master photography as best I can so that I can enjoy using those skillsets in my own life. I adore looking through old family photo albums and feeling as if I’m stepping back in time for a moment. I see photography as a window or portal into an emotional or impactful moment that deserves to be revisited. Now that I have my family of three, I adore capturing all of the little moments - the ones that might get missed. Whether I’m using my big fancy mirrorless camera or a simple iphone, I thoroughly enjoy being able to document my life, especially all of my daughter’s firsts.
